Most of the buildings in the area are mixed uses, including the Millennium Mills and Silo D. There is a residential building right next to the Mills. There is a restaurant floating on the water near the Silo D.

Different types of residential
Around 60% of the residential will be long term rental, short term rental and the area of hotel share the rest of residential area (20% respectively).

How can the design achieve the objectives?

Mixed land use with a variety of activities can better serve the local community. More services in the building can attract more people to visit and stay in the Mills.

New uses in the Mills create unique identity by delivering new uses of historic building and promoting its historic value at the same time.

Different types of residential offers more opportunities for local people, workers and visitors to stay and enjoy the facilities and infrastructure of the Mills, connecting the community.
