Regeneration
The design of the Mills will meet our vision - 'To revitalise the historic Royal Docks by delivering an innovative, sustainable and connected centre for communities and business to thrive'.
Objectives

Mixed Use
To offer both commercial and residential space, attracting a diverse range of companies and communities, transforming the Royal Docks into a vibrant and sustainable centre.

Distinct Identity
Creating place with a clear and distinctive character by drawing from the area's rich history, allows for a greater sense of identity within the site and its future communities.

Sustainability
To improve the site by employing holistic sustainable development, with a focus on environmental sustainability through greater use of green infrastructure, working towards a healthier and more prosperous future urban environment.

Connecting the Community
To foster a diversed community of new and existing residents, providing a safe and desired environment for people to meet, live, work and play.

Infrastructure
Establish strong connections within the site and its surrounding areas by improving on and providing new infrastructure opportunities.

Relationship to Water
Build on the access to the vast waterfront of the site, by activating it to public use through waterfront activities.

Design Proposal
How the design meets the objectives and vision of the project?

Millennium Mills is a mixed used building, providing different facilities to meet people needs. (Objective 1)

Large open space outside the Mills are created to promote the history of the Mills and distinctive identity by interactive activities. (Objective 2)

The Mills is well connected to the buildings nearby, including the bridge to access the ExCeL and two bridges to further access the eastern area of the site to enhance social cohesion. (Objective 4)

Surrounding of the Mills will interacted with the water with large area of green and open space. (Objective 5, 6)
Post Pandemic City
The development is future proof by adopting the ideas of car free city and superblock, in order to create more open space, greenery and reduce air pollution.
