The outdoor area of the Mills is a plaza with greenery, allowing visitors to stay near the Millennium Mills. The area allows different organisations to hold a variety of temporary exhibitions, which is a short term display and event to attract people to visit and enhance vitality.

Indoor greenery

More indoor green space is designed in the building to provide more recreation for people to stay. Millennium Mills is a large building that obstruct most of the sunlight behind the building. More glass walls allow more insolation to go inside the building to make full use of natural lighting and reduce electricity consumption.

How can the design achieve the objectives?

  • Greenery of the rooftop garden and plaza helps improve air quality, and provides an outdoor open space for residents to do outdoor activities.

  • The exhibition pathway helps to create distinctive character of the Mills and further promote its historic value.

  • Indoor greenery designs improves indoor air quality, enhance ventilation and allows more natural lighting to promote sustainability.
